Smoke Test
What is a Smoke Test
Our sewer smoke testing service uses a professional fog trace machine to safely fill plumbing and sewer systems with non-toxic smoke, allowing us to identify hidden breaches, cracks, disconnected lines, and other entry points that may be contributing to pest or rodent activity. This is a thorough diagnostic process that often requires two technicians and several hours of detailed inspection to properly trace and locate problem areas throughout the system.
Sewer smoke testing is not limited to rodent investigations alone. It can also be an extremely effective diagnostic tool for identifying conditions that contribute to cockroach activity, drain flies, mosquitoes, and other moisture-related insect problems originating from plumbing or sewer defects.
Following the inspection, we provide a detailed written report along with videos of our findings so that any plumber or contractor hired for repairs knows exactly what issues need to be addressed.
Before recommending a sewer smoke test, ASPCW will always opt to properly test for active sewer-related rodent activity whenever there is uncertainty. This preliminary test consists of installing a specialty sewer cap fitted with a non-toxic bait system designed to help determine whether rodents are actively traveling through the sewer system. This process helps ensure that smoke testing is only recommended when truly necessary.
